 Overview

The workshop is organized in the honor of Jacques Henrard, on the occasion of his retirement.
The topic, the rotation of celestial bodies, has been selected both for its actuality and because of its connection with Jacques Henrard's researches. Starting his career in Namur in 1970 with the Moon and especially its libration, he published in 2004 and 2005 three papers about the synchronous rotation of the Galilean satellites. Between both dates, he has showed a constant interest in spin-orbit resonant motions and models of rotation.

Moreover, the recent results about the rotation of the main planets and the asteroids, the progresses due to the models of rotation of the cores, the presence of so many spin-orbit resonances in our Solar System satellites and the challenge of two future space missions to Mercury have made the topic obvious and scientifically interesting.

 Organization

The workshop is scheduled on two days, with the last session dedicated to Jacques Henrard. The first evening, as traditionally in our team, a conference will be given about Mercury, for the non-specialists, students of the university or people from the city.

The organizing committee would like to welcome all of you to the workshop. The fees have been reduced to allow the maximum of you to attend these two days; cheap formulas have been negotiated with the hotel Ibis and with the university restaurant. Friend of Jacques Henrard, and/or specialist of the rotation, retired or graduate, we hope to see you in Namur in December. Please contact us for any further information
